Default Linking Autocad to Max issue

Why is it sometimes when I reload my linked Autocad dwg file after making modifications I loose all my assigned materials to the imported acad objects? I checked "Use scene mat definitions" and "Use scene mat assigments on Reload" Am I missing another setting?
    Thanks

Max 2016 needs about 3 service pack updates before it can import CAD or even Revit "correctly". Even when you do, there's still a scaling issue. Can you try exporting your CAD model as an FBX? That has worked for me recently.
