Default Grade to surface in xref.

I set up my existing topo and surface in an xreffed .dwg. Now I need to grade to that surface from several proposed feature lines, is there a way to do this?

Thanks for your thoughts and comments in advance.

Create a data shortcut of the existing surface in your existing surface drawing, DRef it into the current drawing, and set its display to show nothing.
