Summary: Create a Bystyle option thereby deferring to the style for a standard plan set and setting a different option when the need for a special exhibit arises.

Description: We enforce corporate standards by defining the Color, layer, linetype, plot style, line weight, within the Civil3D style. We need a way to allow users to define these options as "ByStyle" in the layer manager thereby deferring to the style for a standard plan set and setting a different option when the need for a special exhibit arises.

Using bylayer might seem like a good idea - but it is not. It immediately opens the door to tweaking standards in the layer manager.

uhmmm, if I'm understanding you, that would aggravate problems with inter-organization collaboration. And c3d is already pretty sucky at that...
