    Default COPY PASTE ISSUES

I cannot copy and paste from one drawing file to another. when I copy items with a basepoint, I notice the following message in command prompt, SketchBook Designer data can only be saved in DWG file format and will be omitted from other file types. If I try to paste the items into another file, it says paste is invalid. I created a wblock from the items in the original file thinking I could insert the items into the other file. Inserting the wblock also creates invalid result. What is wrong with the original file I tried to copy from?
I can copy/paste from other files without problems.

In what version of AutoCAD Architecture are you doing this? Is it in the 2012 or earlier release?

If so, is there any chance that the file from which you are copying was edited in the 2013 or later release, and then saved back to the 2010 (or earlier) format? If so, the presence of "future" AEC objects in that file may be interfering with the ability to copy and paste. DISCLAIMER: I have not tested this theory, just throwing it out there for consideration. It may not apply in your case, and, if it does, it may not be the reason for the problem.

Have you tried to AUDIT or RECOVER the file from which you cannot paste? Perhaps there is a corrupt element in the file that is preventing you from copying/pasting.

When I sent this file to mech engineer, he said his plans have a "made with an educational version of autocad" label embedded that he cannot get rid of. Perhaps this has something to do with it? I did not produce the original file. I received it from a client. it appears normal when open in 2014. I did an audit. fixed 3 errors, but to no avail.

Have come across this issue again. This time, [show annotation objects always] was turned off. I turned it on and the text and leaders I was trying to paste are now visible. I tried to copy/paste a bunch of times, so now I have to erase all the attempts but one! Lol! Couldn't see the forest for the trees!
