Default Space objects cut apart by xref NIGHTMARE

In Project Navigator if I drag (xref) a first floor construct into a second floor construct to coordinate the walls, the walls in one drawing will "imprint" on the space objects of the other drawing effectively cutting them up. Has anyone ever had this happen? my space objects are turned off not frozen.

I do not believe I have seen this. Are the heights of your first-floor Walls set correctly? Or are they higher than the floor-to-floor height from your first floor to your second floor? If the first floor Walls extend up into the second floor, then they could affect any associative Spaces on the second floor.
