At some point in the last few months, my colleagues and I noticed a new ‘bonus feature’ in Revit 2016… we could no longer use the Spot Slope tool on pitched pipe in a coarse 3D view. Following the frustration, we experimented and found a new workflow that allows for our Iso views to appear as intended. I am posting this list of context and workflow to save others from the same struggle.
Context:
• Spot Slope can no longer be tagged directly on a pipe in a coarse 3D view.
• Spot Slope can only be tagged on the surface geometry of a pipe.
• To see the surface geometry of a pipe, the view must be set to Fine.
• Spot Slope is classified as either an Architecture or Structure tag, and it will only be available in your Annotation Categories Visibilities dialog, if one or both of these is checked in the Filter list.
Workflow:
1. Create, orient, and lock the 3D view per your company standards.
2. Set the view Detail Level to Fine.
3. Tag all needed Spot Slopes.
4. Set the view Detail Level to Coarse, and the Spot Slopes will remain visible.
5. Profit.
