Text in table cell appears as number when placed into a Field

Hello world,
i have the text "FRED" in a table cell.
I am trying to get into a MText which has a Field in it.
I set up the Field to Objects-Formula-Cell pick the Cell but the preview give 0.01999 or something - not FRED.
Any help greatly appreciated.

Could you provide a drawing (pared down to just the table and field), so someone can try it?
