Question AutoCAD 2004 create custom tools on Tool Palettes

I am running ACAD 2004 with windows Xp Pro. For some reason I am unable to create tools on any newly created tool palettes. I have created block and hatch tool palettes and everything works just fine. I have followed a couple of tutorials from some other websites and every time I try to drag and drop a tool, lets say linear dimension, from the command window of the customize dialog box it just makes it a separate tool bar and not part of the tool palette. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, I believe the ability to add command tools to palettes was first added to AutoCAD 2005.

There is a way of doing it. You have to hack the atc files that make up the palette.

If your company is on subscription, you need to download & install the tool palette extension to allow you to put commands on tool palettes. If you are still unable to do this after installing the extension, try running a repair on acad.
