How did you create the shadows to be transparent? i tried to do the same thing and had to end up doing them in Photoshop. Here is the image I posted... trying to do the same thing. like i said i drew the shadows in AutoCAD but had to take them out into Photoshop and do a layering and opacity adjustment.

White objects are easy, I just use a color from the color books for the shadows. Then make a block of the area that I want shaded and use the display order command. It is quick and easy way to "cheat render" elevations for presentations. Colors and shadows are more difficult and I have to use two different hatch colors for the area the represent the shadow part. If the structure is simple then I can use this method if it is complex and includes alot of line work like yours then I as well have to export them to Photoshop to get them to look they way that I want. Your drawing is quite impressive. Great job!

Question Re: Hope you like it?

Could you use a gradient hatch pattern to achieve somewhat of the same result? I have used this multiple times to make 2-D rectangles have the appeance of a cylinder. 99 percent of the work I do is in 3 dimensional mechanical design though, not much of the architectual field.

Sure I suppose so, but I kind of like the crisp clean outline of the shadow as opposed to gradual fade of the gradient hatch pattern.
