Angry switching from AutoCAD to Revit

so i have been messing with trying to make a base Revit file, that will keep all the settings that are set in my AutoCAD files. mainly layers and their settings. although i am having trouble figuring out exactly how to go about this. i have tried editing the export settings, as well as linking in a file and editing in the object styles dialog box. i read an article about a .txt file being able to help but i could not find the correct file to start from in the program files, nor could i find any kind of formatting for the .txt file to try and start from scratch.

for my final outcome to summarize i am needing to be able draw in revit, but when exported to AutoCAD have all the layers remain how they would be as if it were to have been done in AutoCAD. i know there has to be a way to do this, but have hit a road block on what to try next.

thanks in advance for any help.

Look into Exporting to Autocad options, you can map and save Exports to desired layers. If I recall, it defaults to AIA/NCS type layer names, but it's not perfect or pretty.
