Default Installing ABS 2005 with just AutoCAD 2005

Does anybody know if you can install just the Autocad 2005 components from the ABS 2005 disc. (easily) Not everyone in our office needs all the functions of ABS however they do need the functions of Autocad 2005. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi

Take a look at creating AutoCAD profiles (ARG files) and Desktop Icons.

The following thread (plus relevant links within) should help....

    The Publish Command Error

    Have a good one, Mike

    Thanks Mike,
I have a shortcut icon for just Autocad 2005, I guess what I was really wondering was on initial installation can just the components for autocad be installed to help save hardrive space and increase speed.

    Hi

Pass, don't have ABS, but what options do you get on a "Custom Install"?

I can kind of understand "help save hardrive space"....

I can't understand "increase speed", if you have an AutoCAD "only" Profile set-up you will not be loading any additional files (ie files that are associated with ABS).

    Have a good one, Mike

Mike is right. You will be able to reduce the size of the install by limiting it to acad specific install features, but you won't increase speed on the computer by doing this - just save hard space.

Have you talked to your reseller about using a floating license manager server? You could do a half & half type thing where you buy a certian number of acad seats & a certain # of ABS seats & then use the flm server to manage your licenses. This might cut down on purchasing costs for your company.
