Autocad points with object data to Civil 3D points

Hello All,

I have 5,000+ autocad points with object data attached. I need to convert to Civil 3D points and use the NAME field from the OD table to be the new point name or descriptor.

i think you'll need to export them to a text/csv file from the Map side,, and then import to c3d points

Thanks for your help cadtag. What I ended up doing was: 1. Wrote a shapefile of the Autocad points. 2. dropped the shapefile into ArcMap. Separated various groups of points into layers. 3. Exported each layer to a .dbf file. 4. opened the dbf in Excel. 5. Deleted columns I didn't need. 6. Created a .csv file. 7. Imported the .csv file into CAD using Carlson Civil Suite. 8. Voila! easy peasy.

I need to do the same thing with Autocad points that have object data attached but I don't have ArcMap. I have been using Map to attach a drawing and using a query to bring in points with the same description then moving those points a layer that matches the description. This doesn't help create Civil 3D points with the name as the description but it helps to sort the points onto layers. It would be nice to have a simpler way to do this.

You could always use LISP to extract the Object Data via ADE_* functions, and write those values to CSV is the desired format... Or simply create COGO Points from same data, within the Active Document.
