Default Stretch Dynamic Block by Length

I'm trying to stretch a dynamic block by entering a length to be added or subtracted from the current length of the block. For example: if a rectangle is 12" long with a linear stretch command on the 12" side. I want to stretch it 6 more inches to make the new overall length 18" not a new overall length of 6". How do I do this? I know its possible because until a few days ago, this is the way I was able to stretch blocks. I didnt change anything (that I know of) but now when I grab the grip to stretch it and enter a length, it changes the overall length instead of using the grip point as the base point of the stretch. I attached a picture with the length I want to change circled in red. If anyone can PLEASE HELP!! Its driving me nuts and for the kinds of drawings I do, it makes it so nice. Is there a system variable that might have been turned off b y accident?
