Hi,

I've developed a somewhat smooth workflow of approximating a rolling-sphere coverage 'blanket' for a given building's lightning protection validation process. I export the building to a 3d dwg from within Revit and apply arcs and surfpatchs in AutoCAD (never thought I'd go back to 3d work in AutoCAD, let me tell you).

The issue I'm having is one of final publication. Producing a professional dwg and pdf export is painful from the 3d dwg, especially when I'm required to provide sectioned views of the model.

I've tried to wblock the lightning protection design and 'dwg Link' it into Revit, but as the surfaces are not meshes, Revit doesn't want to know about it. To compound this, I cannot find a method of converting the surfpatchs into meshes that won't blow the file-size out beyond belief. Some buildings have upwards of 50 surfaces.

Does anyone know of a surface format that is both cheap on file-size and acceptable to Revit?

Cheers!

Luke
