    Default Hatching

When I pick a point to hatch the hatch pattern on all the entities for the boundary are becoming one object. What is causing that?

Maybe your boundary is not closed and your associative hatch is on... try and look associative hatch is off and use select boundary option?

Check the hatch command settings. There is a selection for "Boundary Retention" with the option of polyline or region.
