Default Can't Rename a Level without crashing the file

I have a project that we started in Revit 4 or 5 now we are using 7 so now I have one level that I am trying to rename but I can't the file crashes when I do so all the other levels have been renamed no problem, there is something odd with it to the level shows up blue, so when I double click on it to see what plan is associated with it nothing happens, suggestions?

When you are asked if you want to rename the associated view, are you saying yes? If so, try saying no, and then rename the view manually.

    Generally:

We have zero tolerance for crashing. So, if you can get Revit to crash (especially when it's reproducible) send everything (such as project and journal files) to Revit Support right away.

Since crashes are few and far apart, there is not much help you can derive from the forum.

I had this exact same problem yesterday. I sent off the file to support. I just this minute received this reply:

"For your info, I did talk to the software engineer about this crashing problem when renaming the level on the elevation. They will fix this problem in Revit 8.0.

For Revit 7.0, as workaround when you rename the Level, Revit will also ask you "Would you like to rename corresponding views?", you should select "NO". By doing so, Revit shouldn't crash. Then you can go to the Project Browser to rename manually the corresponding Plan view as the same name of your Level."

Unfortunately this is not a very satisfactory answer as the program crashes before Revit gets a chance to ask any questions. It also does not apply if there is no corresponding view to alter in the project browser.

We also had this problem on a current project that was started in V6.1. I’m happy to know that this has been fixed in V8.

If I'm not hallucinating it's beta (so many releases my head is spinning). Beta is comparable to past Web releases, it should be quite stable. In this case, more stable than 7.

    Edit: there is no 7.1.
