ribbon disappeared

my ribbon has disappeared. well i was having some issues with a dwg, saved it, closed acad, shut the machine down.
upon restarting, when the software loads, all i have at the top of screen in the ribbon is blank icon of some sort and the statement "the ribbon does not have any tabs or panels currently loaded"
even the menu bar won't display.

i've run repair from the control panel and the reinstall option, both to no avail.
i've restarted the machine several time. nothing.

i'm almost at the point of uninstalling the whole thing and reinstalling, but i don't want to have to reload all my productivity packs and other custom things i had.

any suggestions?

Run down that list of options before going for a fresh install.

I tried the steps as shown in the link. didn't work. not sure if my c3d.cuix file was damaged or not, but it wouldn't load.

i follow the link to the reset autocad default settings and everything came back. i only had to reset a few things in the options area and my custom command alias file.
i'm sure i'll have to add back my .lsp files to the startup suite, but that's not too bad.
