Question AutoCad License, Subscription and Maintenance

I had a small business with two designers and several field technicians and therefore we had two AutoCad Licenses for our users. Recently, our business has become a "One Man Show" and I would like some feedback on our current AutoCad license. I want to keep using AutoCad, but I don't want and really can't afford to pay the yearly maintenance fee for the seats.

Does anyone know what would happen if I didn't re-new the licenses? Would the software stop working or can the software still work, except there won't be anymore updates or AutoCad help. I have reviewed the AutoCad web site, but was only able to find information on new purchase and not anything related to my situation.

    Thanks for your time.

It depends on whether the licenses had been purchase under the previous model, which was purchase + annual subscription. Under that model, you would have the right to use only the version that was currently available when you stop paying the subscription. At one point, this was called a "perpetual" license.

Under the new system, if you stop paying, you stop having access to the software. But if you really only need one seat, you can let the other go. ADesk also has options for 1 month, 1 quarter or other period "rentals" if you have a need to add staff on a temporary basis.

Thanks CAtDiva - I'm pretty sure the current license is perpetual, was purchased in early 2014. I appreciate your time in providing this information.

if purchased in 2014, it should keep running forever, if you _upgraded_ recently (post 2016? 2015?) you _may_ have been converted to a 'desktop subscription' aka rental.

You should be able to confirm that on accounts.autodesk.com

    an addition to drakesx4.9332 's question/post -
We are letting our maintenance plan expire and hold on to our current license (version 2021). If our contract for maintenance is up June 1, 2020 and Autodesk releases a hotfix for version 2021 on June 2, are we screwed (sorry to be blunt)? Can we get that hotfix?

Unless policies have changed, updates are only available for maintenance or subscription customers.
