Default AutoCAD extremely sluggish when WiFi is enabled

Hope this is the right forum. Feel free to move this post if not.

I have 2 users with laptops (windows 10) and AutoCAD Architecture (2019, up to date).

The profiles are all local paths (either default, or in a "CAD_local" folder on the C drive). I've been using this method for a decade with now issues and in fact it's working fine on other laptops in the same office.

    But for these 2 laptops...

When at home, connected to the internet via WiFi, AutoCAD performance is unusably slow (not file specific, new blank DWG does the same thing).

If they disconnect from WiFi... AutoCAD is fine.

    ???

    What Am I missing?

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hi
I had the same issue several years. I was logged into Autodesk 360 even though it said I was logged out; and it was trying to save everything to Autodesk server

What did you do to resolve? Disable 360? Uninstall?

Thanks for your reply. I was starting to think I was going nuts.

In my experiences, this is because AutoCAD/Windows is looking for something it can't find. When there is an (any) internet connection, Windows doesn't give up, it just keeps on looking....
But when there is no internet connection, Windows just tells AutoCAD "Sorry, it's not there" and moves on.

Easy way to test, download Process Monitor and watch the file/registry activity, especially during the time periods when it's "slow".

I would suggest following RK advice. I don't remember exactly how I solved this except that I was on the phone with tech support for a awhile

Here's an update after a week of testing.

I brought a lapatop home to test on my network (gigabit fiber, so it's not a bandwidth issue) and I get the same issue. When connected to the internet (but not the office domain) AutoCAD hangs for about 30 seconds to a minute, then works for a minute or two, then hangs again... and so on.

    • OS does not matter (happens in Win7 and Win10).
    • Admin or standard user does not matter.
    • AutoCAD profile does not matter (My custom local profile has no refs to server or mapped drives, it also happens using the default AutoCAD profile).
    • Wireless is not the issue (per se) as it happens to me when I'm connected to my network via cable or wireless.

I suspect maybe Bitdefender Endpoint Protection is interfering somehow, but that is manged by the IT dept and no setting are accessible on the local machine. So I can't disable it for half an hour and test. I'm working with them on that now.

I found with the last version of DesignReview that the user had to log into their Autodesk account, otherwise it took ages to load up.
Is the user logged in with ACAD?
