Hello everyone,

After completing several facades for a project with no issues in Revit, we exported the file to IFC. There were windows randomly “hidden” without apparent reason (please see attachment). It looks like the last wall “isn’t cut” in IFC by the voids. The interior part of the wall works perfectly in every level.

How we modeled:

Host/parent window family with:
None, one, two or three nested window families according to the facade design.
Category of the host family: Windows

Wall system where they are hosted (in the project):
  • 3 joined walls, and the window is hosted on the wider wall (number 1). The other 2 walls are joined to the main wall (1) so the window’s void cut through the joined walls (2 and 3). wall system floor plan.png
  • wall system

We tried (in Revit):

Copying entire walls and windows from levels where the windows display correctly and paste them in levels where they “misbehave” (in IFC) and re-exported to IFC;
  • Rejoin the 3 walls again;
  • Create new instances of the family in the specific problematic levels;
  • None of the aforementioned procedures helped with the IFC outcome. Everything stays the same.

We have 985 instances of this 4 families spread through the facade and everything works perfectly in revit (see attachment). The problem arises when we export to IFC to send it out of the office.
Has everyone experienced the same issue?
