Default Window Family Adjust and cut multiple walls

    Hello all,

I've been stuck for some time now and having to make temporary fixes which is longer really an option.

So the window two glazing units, an interior and exterior, as well as a plate which sits flush with the internal wall face.

I'd like to make the family adaptable, in that it's able to adjust to the varying thicknesses of walls, and move in internal glazing unit flush with the internal face, and likewise the external with external face.

I have wall build ups which are made using several separate walls. So the family is currently attaching to one of the walls and not acknowledging any of the others even if they are joined.

I've attached an image and the RFA file.

I would appreciate any suggestions, or if its even possible?

    Thanks

If you're drawing separate walls for each layer, you can do one of 2 things.
(Note - I didn't look at your family hence 2 options)
First you have to join the 2 walls together. You need to do that regardless
If you use a wall opening in the family to cut the wall, the family will cut the wall and any wall that wall is joined to.
If you're using a Void Extrusion or sweep to cut he wall, you'll need to make sure that extrusion extends beyond each face of the wall. I've done this in my door families so if someone wants to add a wall that is just layer of 3/8 tile or something, they just need to join the walls together and the family will cut.
    Hope this helps.
