Default One quarter of rendering turns black after rendering completes

This is maddening. After waiting countless minutes for a rendering to complete, one-fourth of it just turns black after the rendering is finished. What could be causing this?

Default Re: One quarter of rendering turns black after rendering completes

I just encountered this myself for the first time -- is it catching?. The black rectangle got proportionally smaller when I lowered the print resolution, but did not go away. It even persisted when I tried rendering half the view in separate regions, left and right. Maybe a conspiracy by Adesk to get us to pay for cloud rendering? That's what I ended up doing.

Oh -- and I tried interrupting the rendering at 95%, just before the black rectangle appeared, hoping to be able to save it that way, but then the WHOLE image turned black. Sheesh.
