Default Alignment label cannot calculate station and offset

    Hi All

When i try to add station/offset labels into my drawing, sometimes it cannot calculate the station/offset, and I cannot understand why.

The first image below shows tow labels which are very close to each other. The one which works is snapped to a point somewhere along the green polyline.
The one which isnt working is very close to it, but snapped to the endpoint of the green polyline.
The second image shows you a close up of the two points and where they

I noticed this problem when trying to build a custom command using the VB.NET API. The call to the "stationoffset" function also returned an error.
I then tried it using alignment labels, to find they produce the same result

Any ideas what might be causing this?

There's a deflection in the alignment so the offset up to that point does not meet the offset beyond that point leaving a gap that isn't stationable. Adding a horizontal curve at the deflection would solve the problem.

Exactly. To illustrate graphically....Given the alignment (in magenta), the area in red will have no station/offset. The area in green will have two solutions.

If you must use a PI in the alignment, then you can calculate a bearing and distance to your desired point, from the PI.
