Default Find a particular word in a set of drawings

Is there a way to search for a particular word in one of many ACAD drawings? I am talking about a word in the drawing itself, not a word in the drawing title. I know that the Find command will find a word in the drawing, if you are in the drawing, but what I want is something that would search like a file explorer search through, and within, a folder of ACAD drawing files.
    Thanks,
    TT

One way in stock product is to begin a new empty drawing, xref attach (select multiple) then use the FIND command with the Search Xref's toggle turned on.

that is a pretty neat trick. how many xrefs can one drawing have?
sounds like you'd have to do the search in batches.

There's a robust search function in the Design Center. But, it is slow. If the XREF method is too intense for your system, I have used the dataextraction tool to pull items from large number of drawings, with their filename/path info, to a .csv file. You can even use a spreadsheet to create a hyperlink to the drawing.

    Jesse,
I found the search engine in Design Center but when I use the Keyword search I do not think it is finding the word I am searching for within the searched drawings. Can you elaborate on how this works?
    Thanks,
    TT

Take a look at Lee Mac's "Batch Find & Replace Text" http://www.lee-mac.com/bfind.html
