    Default Path of Travel tool

Has anyone tried using the new Path of Travel tool? It's a good idea, but unfortunately the diagonal path it generates through spaces doesn't appear to be editable. Unfortunate, in that code officials tend to disapprove diagonal paths through rooms and spaces, arguing that equipment and furniture layouts often obstruct such paths. Maybe I'll add the ability to edit these paths to the wish list!

I haven’t used that tool too much, but how about using segments and sum up the path length in the schedule, or creating a mass as an obstruction to force one, single path the way you want? Is that going to work? …just a thought.

I think it is a good tool for quick analysis (to find problem areas fast) but less so for documentation. There seems to be less consistency for documentation requirements from place to place so getting the tool to work for varied submission requirements is a moving target. I find that a lot of people have settled on using Railings for formal egress path documentation (replacing the line-based family approach).

And I like the "Path of Travel" family you developed & shared with me earlier, Steve--but it requires adding up the straight-line path segments to get the total travel distance. It really would be nice if Revit's path could be edited.

Yeah, I told them they shouldn't release it until the path could be edited... I use a custom schedule for the egress path total on a sheet...

We are having issues with the path of travel I haven't seen before. We are using the design options with this model. Has anyone had problems with using design options and path of travel analysis? We pick the 2 points and then the path goes thru the design option door, then around the building to the second point.
