    Default STB inquiry

We are using STB ply styles. Is there away to change the screening on one object with out having to create a new layer?

That's the advantage of using STB's. Just set that object to whatever Plot style you want in the Properties Palette or the Ribbon. You don't have to change the color like you do with CTB's.

create a new plot style, and assign it to that object.

Alternate- assign a transparency of 50% to that object

It appears that I need to set some type of system variable to allow transparency to be modified in properties ???

Highlight ByLayer and enter a value like 50 for the percentage of transparency.

I assumed if adding a new layer could solve your problem that you already had a Plot Style in your STB that had the screening you needed. Is that the case?

There are drawbacks to using transparency like the size of a plot file or how linework that's on top of others is plotted. If your STB doesn't have a Plot Style with the screening you need transparency is the way to go. Our STB has only 6 Plot Styles and three of them are levels of screening.
