Is there a variable that is defining dimscale based on a viewport?

I always want dimscale set to 1 but keep finding it is different from file to file that only I have worked in.

Do you mean annotative scale? = automatically scales when has assigned scales that match the vp scale.

If you draw a non-annotative dimension in paper space with a dimscale of 1 then use CHSPACE to put it in a model space viewport with an annotative scale of 1:30 the dimension will look the same but will now have a dimscale of 30.
