    Default SHEET SET CREATION AND IMPORTATION

    Hi all,
    I'm a noob to SSM. I basically will need to update attributed title blocks in projects that go to the crews with the SAME DATE for all drawings in each project. So, the crew knows it's operating from the same job package. I've researched for LISP scripts and using LEE-MAC'S tutorials on .scr's. It seems the best bet is SHEET SETS.

    We have ALL OUR DRAWINGS IN MODEL SPACE. We don't use PS at all. That's the way it's been and forever will be. Having said that, I'm trying to create my initial Sheet Set and in the folder, I can only import 4 dwg's. It's bizarre, because it seems as though the "Create Sheet Set" dialog will import these 4 drawings because they are in PS. But I open them up and they are in MS.

    Any ideas here? I've tried opening them up and saving again in MS, but no go.

    Thx for any help.

    Do you have the title block in model space too?

    Pretty sure SSM (for sheets anyway) is meant for layouts.

    Someone should REALLY re-think the workflow at your office by keeping everything in MS.
    Layouts have been around since release "11" or "12" I believe, over 25 years ago, they save a lot of time and aggravation when it comes to plotting and sheet management.

    The only thing I can think of given your situation, is to create layouts in your drawings and move the TB's to PS at 1:1 (as intended) and put viewports in them to the MS content.
    Then you can link them to SSM and have the TB info filled in.

    We use a combination of xreffed TBs and attributes per-sheet with SSM for all projects.

    @tedg,
    I believe the earliest .dwg files we have are from 1991. I usually run a .dwg count every year, and last year it was >7000. Life is too short. I'm just a humble CADSAPIEN. I will have to jury rig something.

    @jtbworld,
    yes, the TB is in MS.

    Thanks all,

    As stated by others, SSM only works for layouts, not "sheets" in MS.

    You could bring your dwgs up to date using ScriptPro. Write a scr that does what you need to one dwg, then batch it with ScriptPro.

    Doesn't sounds like that is a option.

    I thought he might be willing to try if he realized the situation isn't hopeless.

    This place was a model space only place too, until I started back in '04. They took to it with the templates I created. Making it easier and explaining the process helped the adoption.
    If you have a technical question, please find the appropriate forum and ask it there.
    You will get a quicker response from your fellow AUGI members than if you sent it to me via a PM or email.

    To make use of the Sheet Set Manager you need to have your title blocks in paper space.
    If you have to stay in model space use other methods like our JTB BatchAttEdit app to bulk edit attributes across many drawings.
