Default Detete Nested Blocks on Drawing

    Hi AUGI Members,

We routinely receive drawing files from consultants that we need to use on our drawings as a background. These drawings are large (heavy) and contain numerous nested blocks that need to be removed before we can use the drawing as a background on our project drawings. We are currently using AutoCAD 2018..!!

Because there are many levels of nested blocks......This is time consuming and I'm trying to develop a program (using Autolisp) that would automatically drill down into those levels of nested blocks and delete the blocks (block name: wall-tag, room-tag, etc.) we need to remove.

Any help, recommendations would be appreciated..!!

    Thank you,
    CADdancer

Are you wanting to delete/remove the content of these nested blocks?

Because if you are just going from blocks to loose geometry, this will increase file size and drawing complexity.

Redefining those blocks so the new layer they're inserted on can simply be frozen would also allow them to be thawed in the future should someone need them in the future. Someone put a lot of work into putting them in the drawing.
