Default ADDING KEYNOTES WITH NO OBJECT TO SELECT

Is there a way to add a keynote tag to something that is not an object?
Using my custom keynote database, I would like to point to a detail line, (border), to denote a "curbless shower"
But with no object to select, I'm unable to add this keynote.
    Thank You

Why not use your curbless shower object and keynote that?
Detail line cannot be keynoted, but you can create a line-based detail line family. It can be easily keynoted if you have to use a line.
