Default loading onto a new machine

I just got a new pc and am loading as much of my software as I can on a separate D: drive.
Wanted to ask if there is anything wrong with this or I will get any instability down the road.
Some vendors I'm talking to are saying their programs have to be loaded onto the C: Drive.
    Thanks,

Is your D drive the same kind of drive as your C drive?
Some new computers will have a fast smaller C drive and a larger slower D drive. So you could end up with slower load/save times if this is the case.

I've seen issues with other autodesk products in the past where regardless of using a separate drive, there's a caching requirement that dumps everything in the windows, User location. This could cause issues if you're deployment isn't set up correctly depending on pathing. For example, your rendering materials jpeg maps are set up to point to a C drive location. I don't know if there's an easy way to change that if you're installing on a different drive.
