I have some equipment families with text that I would like to remain upright (horizontal) no matter how they are rotated once placed the model. What I am having trouble with is getting the text to stay upright regardless of the rotation of the family.
I have read several posts on here and in other places that described the process, but I cannot get it to work.
Here has been my process.
1. Insert the text in the center of the family.
2. Add a reference line through the center of the text.
3. Add an invisible line through the text Note, it is in line with the reference line.
4. Add an angular dimension between the invisible line to the reference line and locked it. The angle is 0 degrees.
5. Selected the angular dimension and gave it a type parameter called "Rotation".
6. Selected the invisible line and the text, grouped them and while still in edit mode I locked the invisible line to the reference line. I locked it by selecting the invisible line and sliding the "blue node" over the reference line thus locking it to the reference line (I suppose). I then selected finish to get out of edit mode.
7. I save it and load it into a project. When I select it and rotate, the text and invisible line (visible while in selection mode) still rotate.
Am I missing a step or not doing something in the correct order?
I have attached a family as an example.
As always, any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Robert
