Default Alignment effects on a proposed surface

I edited the geometry of an alignment with a fillet. Why did the fillet nodes add zero elevations to my proposed surface and how can I get the alignment separated from any way of effecting my proposed surface?

As a was rethinking before posting the above inquiry it occurred to me to create another site for alignments. I moved the alignment to the new site. I do have a profile and sample lines already created. I wonder what the fallout will be?

Shouldn't alignments be apart of or associated with sites and the grading surfaces?

Alignments are 2d, not 3d so don't make any sense to me as part of a surface. Feature Lines from an alignment, and Profiles, are 3d

Yea I thought so too. I put a fillet on one yesterday and it added 0 elevations to the proposed surface. Fixed it by creating another site for alignments

We don't put alignments in a site. We do not want them to interact with any of the feature lines or parcels in the drawing.
