Greyed-out items in palettes

Does anyone know how to stop AutoCAD from greying-out non-editable items in palettes? To be more specific, I'm talking about XRef layer names in the Layer Properties Manager and various items in the Properties palette. (See attached screen shots.) These items are much harder to read when greyed-out, particularly at the end of the day.

Any help with this is greatly appreciated.

If you switch to the dark theme, it will be easier to read. Options>Display tab>Color Scheme
