    Default Automatic dimensioning through programming

    I have set of random points in the workspace as shown in the figure. I want to automatically dimension those points (Linear dimension only) in the best possible way by using any programming language as shown in the right image (for example). Is there any better algorithm for doing it?

    The difficult part is telling the program what the points mean. You need to define a set of rules that apply to the lines. How do you know what points connect to which other point, for example. Why are the four points at the bottom not connected to the points above. If you can't precisely describe the problem, you can't write a program to solve it or find a "better algorithm".
