Default Yes/no parameter keeps reverting back to default setting

I have a duct tap family with a yes/no parameter controlling the visibility of a line for a manual balancing damper to be on or off. It's defaulted to be off (unchecked), however whenever you turn it on, Revit automatically keeps turning it back off every time the duct size is changed or duct route/length is modified etc. Any idea why that may be?
