    Default XREF won't detach

I have somehow gotten some XREFs associated with AutoCAD LT drawings that I can't detach. I use XREF to pull in a wire list from an Excel spreadsheet. Sometimes a drawing that doesn't need a wirelist will have that XREF listed and the status is often ! Not Found. Even if I find the XREF file, often I still can't detach it. I think I have promulgated XREfs over several drawing files where they are not needed.

I don't use LT, so I don't know if this works, but sometimes what I do to trick it, is I browse to a random dwg file for the xref (it doesn't need to be the actual file), then detach it.

It could also be included inside a block. You could WBLOCK each block to a folder and inspect those drawings to see if any have the offending XREF.
If you have a technical question, please find the appropriate forum and ask it there.
You will get a quicker response from your fellow AUGI members than if you sent it to me via a PM or email.

These instructions are good and I've seen them work before. For some reason it is inconsistent on my computer. And my employer recently replaced my computer. I am now using "the cloud" more extensively and it was used to transfer files to the new computer.
This may be a problem associated with files that are on "the cloud" and not actually on my local hard drive. The Microsoft programs on my computer integrate seamlessly with the Microsoft based cloud, but other programs not so much. When I right click on the XREF filename the options are only Open or Update Data Links. If I select Open, it fails.

Can you delete using the DATALINK command?
