    Default Setting dimension offset

When dimensioning around a dwelling, where parts of the house protrude out, I want to set the dimension offset to a specific distance from the protrusion is there any way to do this quickly. If I set the offset to 1200mm this will not be even across different protrusions, is there any way to draw a line across all the dimensions and the offset is set to this adjusting the offset for the dimensions independant of any protrusions to look even throughout the length of the line of dims.

try using DIM CONTINUE after you have the first dimension line at the distance you want

using dim continue keeps the dimension in a straight line but draws the line to where is picked less the line offset. What I am after is the line offset stays the same length regardless what is picked, to keep the dimension uniform at a regular offset? is there any other way to do it.

If I understand what you want, I don't know of a setting for that, Acad wants to snap to an object.
The quickest way to do what you want (in my opinion) is do the dim-continue, and then isolate your dimension layer and stretch the ends to where you want.

All my dimensions are in PS, so I just drop an XLINE on the outermost point and then offset it .25, offset again, and again (or however many times I will need), and erase the original.
When I stretch a dim it goes out to one of those XLINEs.
It's not simple, but it does make clean, uniform dimensions.

After revisiting this I see better what you are trying to do. And it is similar to what I suggested, but takes more prep.

Again... All my dims are in PS. They all start .25 off the outmost line. But...
I have my dimstyle set to "Fixed length extension lines", I have the length set to .1875.
I also have the "Extend beyond dim lines" set to .0625.
And "Offset from origin" set to .0625.

So, every dim placed has the gap of .0625 and an .1875 line. By doing so, when I place another dim farther out...it also has the .1875 length line that lines up with the .0625 "extend beyond..." of the line.dimstyle.PNG
