I can copy, but when I paste or paste as block a popup error message comes up and nothing is pasted. Popup error says "AutoCad Message Clipboard Empty!"

    2. Audit
    3. restart program and restart computer
    4. Delete constraints
    5. repair
    6. opened a new drawing
    7. cleaned the cache on the computer

Describe how you're attempting to do these tasks.
To Copy did you use Ctrl+C or Ctrl+Shift+C, picking it on the Ribbon (or Toolbar), or the COPYBASE command?

Make sure the layers of those objects are unlocked, thawed, and on if they exist in the drawing you're Pasting into.
Are you copying blocks? Make sure layer zero is always on, thawed, and unlocked.

    Hi Tom,
Thank you for your response. Here's what I've tried.

    I tried the following:
select item, right click, copy with basepoint, go to area where I want it pasted, right click, paste to 0,0.
select item, right click, copy with basepoint, go to area where I want it pasted Toolbar: Edit, Paste, click area to paste
select item, Ctrl+Shift+C, go to area where I want it pasted, Ctrl+Shift+V
select item, Ctrl+C, go to area where I want it pasted, Ctrl+V
Command: Copybase with the above paste options

It happens when copy/pasting to same drawing in model or paperspace.
It happens when copy/pasting to different drawings.
Tried downloading the file to my desktop thinking it might be something with the network or my external hard drive.
    Layers are not locked.
    Tried changing layers.
At first I thought it was because it was blocks. Then it happened with text. Just to make sure, I exploded the blocks to individual vector lines, it still would not paste.
Also tried a new drawing with only the 0 layer and just random lines. (image below)

What's PICKADD (System Variable) set to?
2 is the default in 2021 but 1 should work as well.
0 would require you to start the command first before selecting an item to copy.

Pro Tip -- when working in the same drawing and space, use COPY command instead of CopyClip and screwing around with the clipboard. COPY works much better than CopyPaste,

    Thank you @cadtag !
Yes, I agree. As for copy/pasting to a different drawing or layouts, that's where I'm having the issue.
    Thank you for your tip!!

It may be a Windows problem -- does copy paste work between other windows documents? Word, Excel, etc?

I was hoping it was a Windows problem. I checked Word and Excel, no problems with copy and paste between documents or within the same document.
