    Unhappy Point text layout

    Hi All
    Can any one help me?
I am an infrequent user of civil 3d but in my position I am using it more and more.

I create contours for house blocks and the points show up with massive gaps between the point labels ie point number elevation and the point its self
is there any way of setting the point style so that the text is closer to the point.point problems.jpg
I think I have attached a picture of what i mean
    any help gratefully appreciated.
    John

Is the text style being used have a height assigned to the text style?

Have you reviewed the settings for the associated point label style for these points? There would be an x/y offset for the placement of the label components. These offsets are from the Anchor Component property of the label component in question.
If you have a technical question, please find the appropriate forum and ask it there.
You will get a quicker response from your fellow AUGI members than if you sent it to me via a PM or email.

To expand on Opie's answer which is fine....

    Point Lable Positioning.JPG

The five Items I have highlighted all have some affect on where the various label components are placed.

Anchor Component - what it is attached to, this can vary
Anchor Point - where on the bounding box of the anchor component it is attached

Text Component - Where on the Text Object it is attaching to the Anchor component

X Offset - shifts the Text Component Left or right (typically)
Y Offset - shifts the Text Component Up or Down (typically)
I say *typically because certain Rotation Parameters within the Label casue the X-Y axis to be reversed and the offsets will behave opposite of what one expects them to.

Additionally, the test in your labels my be pushed off of the point feature location, because there were empty spaces added to the CONTENTS of the point lable component.

A best practice to follow, copy the point lable style in question, and then explore how it is composed before modifying the one(s) in use.
To keep them from going from bad to worse!
