    Robert,

Here is your data, I pushed it through QGIS, and exported it as a SHP file.

Use MAPIMPORT to bring the data into your file. It is on WGS 84, if your file has the proper coordinate system set
the MAPIMPORT process will automatically transform the data.

I think the original issue is that your destination file MUST have a coordinate system assigned

Also the 'bad' extra code left over from export from it's source.

I'm not sure if I have the data in the correct order...as it imports into Civil 3d in a slightly different orientation than in QGIS.

Does the image I posted show the data in the proper location?

The issue is discussed here as well:

From what I can see the additional points are using WGS 84
your project iss or you want it to use Lousiana State Plane South zone 1702

If you were to draw a polygon around your project site and export it using MAPEXPORT
and post the shp file I could confirm that.

Was the site I Posted correct?

the figure in your zip file is in the general vicinity, but much larger than the actual site.
attached is the kmz file of the property. the area that those additional points represent are in the southwest corner
let me know if this helps.

basically what I did to bring them in was to set my dwg to lat/long decimal degrees in the toolspace/settings/ambient settings.
then i used create cogo points using the transparent command 'LL and inserted the data manually. this is a pain and would be worse if i had 100's of points to do.

take a look and let me know what you think. I really appreciate the help.

OK, so the points I gve you in the shape file are/were in the corrct location(s)
I thought you might be working on that already cleared parcel, so that is the
bounds I used to verify the points location.

I think part of the issue, I and or you are having is

knowing the Coordinate System(CS) of the "wetlands points" - pretty sure it is wgs 84

and the fact that Civil 3D does not directly support

    ESRI:102682
NAD 1983 StatePlane Louisiana South FIPS 1702 Feet

IF you type MAPCSASSIGN and enter that EPSG code (102682) you will see that it is not defined within MAP
and I think it isn't fully defined within Civil 3D - because entering the EPSG code int the "Selected Coordinate Sytem Code: box
returns LA-S-Mod. This leads me to believe it is not yet fully defined or implemented within C3D.

However QGIS does recognize that CS
and that is why the SHP worked, and a DXF file I made.

I suggest you get a copy of QGIS, as it really comes in handy
verifying and or converting geospatial data.

    additional wetland data points.png

When I look at your txt file, I see unnecessary tabs, and an additional column. Either one might be enough to cause an import problem.

still can't figure this one out.
attached is the point file and an image of the import points dialogue box.

    I'm at a loss.

i think i figured it out.
the 3rd column was set to point elevation, I didn't think it would matter.
i changed the heading to be raw description and it worked just fine.

    thanks for all the input.

    Thanks for the follow up,

Sometimes "UNUSED" or "USER DEFINED" can also be implemented to handle extra data in a file without the need to edit the source.
