    Cool Generic Section Head

I thought I saw one awhile ago, but maybe it wasn't what I thought it was. I'm trying to create a generic section head that won't reference any sheet or detail, but will allow me to input the detail number and sheet number to what ever I decide. Is this even possible?
    Thanks,

Well, you can create/cut a section and reference another view (another section or drafting view etc)
And you can change it after (select another view) but needs to be the same type of view (section, drafting view etc)

Other than that you could make an annotation group or similar you use over and over and edit
(draw/create geometry with text to edit)

I don't know if this is possible to make a generic annotation family that does this.

While you can create a Generic Annotation that does this, I don't recommend it as then if you move the detail, you have to remember to change the callout ... which is one of the major benefits of Revit is the relationship of a callout to a view.

Now there is the challenge that you cannot place live view callouts in legend views (for example, door/window/frame elevations that are not live views). But you can create View Reference tags for these view that will also live reference a view. You can set them to the view you want to reference before they go on the sheet ... the tag will not fill in until the view is on a sheet.
