Default Where is lintype shx alternate stored?

I have a file that's missing a shape shx file. When opening it, I selected an alternate shx file and now it's permanently remembered. I can't find where this info is stored. I checked the font map file and it's not there. Any other suggestions?

    FONTALT (System Variable)
Specifies the alternate font to be used when the specified font file cannot be located.
    Type: String
    Saved in: Registry
    Initial value: simplex.shx
When a drawing file with a defined text style is opened and an alternate font is not specified, the Alternate Font dialog box is displayed.

Thanks Tom, but that's not it. Mine still says simplex.shx. This is for the shx specified in a linetype. I thought I mentioned that in my first post, but apparently not quite.

    This might help: http://cadpanacea.com/wp/?p=1483

I assume you tried restarting AutoCAD and reloading the linetype if you have the LIN file.

This will output the linetype definition of the current linetype to the command line but I'm not sure which SHX file it will output as I've never encountered that before: https://forums.augi.com/showthread.p...=1#post1333199

I managed to get it to prompt me again for the shx file, although FONTALT was not storing the substitute. I never found out where it's being stored, but I finally got the required shx from the consultant, so all is well. Thanks.

In the reg editor, drill down to Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Autodesk then search for shx and you should get the first location that it is stored. Hit F3 to jump to the next location. Key hitting up the F3 until you find the one you want to change. (only make changes with all things AutoCAD related being closed)

You could narrow your search buy using the name of the retained SHX instead of searching using shx as the term.

You may want to Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Autodesk as well to see if you can find the altered font's name

    I found it here: C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2023\Fonts\simplex.shx

Thanks, but I wasn't looking for the font file. I was trying to figure out where AutoCAD was remembering the value that I typed. I fixed it by opening the file again after the missing shx was replaced.
