Default Importing just the points in xml file as cogo points

I have an xml file from an outside source and when I open the xml file I see the points with x, y and z coordinates, like you would see in any general point file, only in an xml format.
My question is, is it possible to bring those points into a Civil 3D drawing as cogo points from the xml file. In this situation I do not need the surface (that will come in with the Import Land xml file command) just the points. I do not have access to the drawing that the xml data came from, just the xml file itself.
    Thanks,
    TT

When you import the Land XML file, just make sure that the box for CgPoints is checked. that will import Points as Cogo Points, which you can use like any other C3D Point

I don't see the Cg box line. Which is odd because I see the points in the xml file itself.

What part of the points do you need? The points in your XML file are the definition points for the surface and do not have other data assigned to them. If all you want is the points, import the surface to a new drawing, change your surface style to display the points, and then extract those points from the surface. You could then convert those to cogo points, but they would not have any associated data in the points.

    Opie,
Can you walk me through this method? I extracted the points from the surface and I can select them but how do you create the cogo points from these surface points?

Use the Home Ribbon. There is a Create Ground Data panel with Points button. This button is a dropdown. Near the bottom of the dropdown menu is a button to Convert AutoCAD Points.

You can review the "To Convert AutoCAD Points to Autodesk Civil 3D Points" page in help for additional notes to help you understand the process.
