Default Dimension to the center-line (CORE) of a wall

    Hey All,

Is there a way, or a workaround, to dimension the centerline of "CORE" of the wall? I have a wall with finishes only on one side so when you try to dimension to the center line it's based on the whole width of the wall not the actual width of the metal stud.

I know you can adjust the centerline location for "Temporary" dimensions but haven't found a way to do it for regular dimensions.

I even thought if there was a way to add the same finish thickness to the opposite side of the wall and then somehow turn the visibility off to the extra finish. The core centerline would be correct, but you wouldn't see the extra finish. Probably wishful thinking but you never know.

Let me know if any of you have dealt with this and found a solution to it.

    Thanks!

Haha, Nevermind, I figured it out. Start the Dimension command and there is a little drop down menu that lets you pick what the dimension line will pick. So obvious. Haha

    Thanks!

Also, not sure if you know this, (while in dimension mode) while hovering over the item you want to snap to, hit the tab key and it will cycle through (highlight) lines to snap to.
It will go from like "core" to actual wall detail lines etc. it helps if you zoom in a bit and turn "Thin Lines" on (turn off the thick lines).
