Default Viewport copy from tab to tab

When i copy a viewport from tab to tab it loses its layer state even when the viewport is locked.

Is there a way to keep the layer state?

What happens when you apply the Layer State to the drawing, instead of the Viewport and remove all Viewport overrides?

    HI
never do that anymore. I copied a tab that had a viewport with an error in it several times then discovered the error. the fix at that time was more painful than the extremely long regen times.
Note to self always make a new veiwport in all new tabs

Agreed, I rarely, if ever use VP layer overrides, it can get cumbersome.
I know Autodesk has given us these many ways to do things, but I keep the MS stuff the way I want it to look/print (with the exception of freezing per VP in some cases)

We use a lot of xrefs with the layers manipulated when needed (visretain = 1)
And with that, you can copy viewports across layouts and get what you expect.

    (my 2 cents)
