As I said before, if you can't delete the style, it is being referenced. Run the PURGE command and it will help you figure out why you can't delete the style. Most likely it is either referenced by a table, or the style is set to be the current style. If it's the former, you have to find a table that uses the style and change it to use a different style. Then you can purge the style. If the purge dialog lists a table in the Details section, you can double click on the row and it will zoom to the entity and select it for you.

Ed - Look please stop responding. I have explained that table does not exist in the dwg. Nothing in is in the dwg - no entities. The Legend table is not the default style. Yet it will not purge. I have done all the obvious things.

Hey there, Ed is just trying help, that's what we do here, you're clearly frustrated.
Anywho, I'm not sure what is causing your issue, I just opened your posted .dwg file and just purged that tablestyle and it went away.
I also saved and went back in and it stayed gone.
(I'm in Acad 2023)
Another test was I used a purge routine I use a lot, purges all Regapps, etc, it also went way.
Mentioned in THIS POST
Per Ed's previous post, that if the tablestyle (or any item for that matter) is under any of those conditions, it won't allow you to purge (which your sample file wasn't).
And if it were under those conditions, you would need to change it (to not be current, or default, or used) but I'm sure you know that.
Hope you find peace and a resolution
I do appreciate the help but when I say what is happening to me and we just go back and forth with no resolution, it is pointless. I have lots of work and don't want to waste my time or anyone else's time. I have had issues on different forums where people posting practically berate you like you don't know the basics or say you should be doing something or not doing something etc. I did answer that dwg is empty and the table will not delete for me etc. My guess now is there an issue in my dwgs and a newer version will fix this issue since some of you are able to delete it. You mentioned Regapps - I didn't try purging them but now I did, with no difference.
I found out why you can't purge the style. You didn't say what app you are using, but I tried opening the dwg in Map 3D. Originally, I opened it in plain acad. But when I ran PURGE, it shows that the table style is being reference by the base map. This would happen if your are using Civil 3D as well. Apparently, those apps create the table style if it is not already present. So, the bad news is that it's not worth trying to eradicate it.

Have you created a new drawing using the Open with no template - Imperial or Open with no template - Metric options which can be found in the drop down button to the right of the Open button when the option to Select a template dialog is shown? If you have done this and the table style in question is there, then you are fighting a losing battle. If it is not there, then you may be able to automate the removal of it using AutoLISP or other programming tools.
If you have a technical question, please find the appropriate forum and ask it there.
You will get a quicker response from your fellow AUGI members than if you sent it to me via a PM or email.

TableStyle Legend is built into Map3d, and hence built into Civil3d. Any drawing that has been touched by either of those ever will have that style embedded in it. Best option is to simply ignore it.
