Default Revit Family and AutoCAD Block library coexistance

    Hi all,

I work for a Commercial Food Service manufacturer. We have both an extensive block library and an extensive family library. our customers rely on both being in sync and accurate. Does anyone manage a hybrid technical library like this? I like to hear your thoughts.

By "in sync", I assume you mean that you have families with identical blocks and if a family changes properties, then the block's properties need to change too? If so, then you need a way to prompt a user to make the same change in the other file type. I'm a newbie to Revit, but I've been a dms admin for over 20 years. AutoCAD Architecture maintains a record of style changes and can notify you if a sheet is out of sync. Basically, you need a database in the background to store version info. When an block/family changes, you need custom code to check the entity's version to see if it matches the version of the other entity. It can't make the changes for you. It's just a way to notify/remind you that you have more work to do.
