Default Tool Palette missing file location

I seem to have lost the link from my tool palettes to the file locations where the external drawings are kept. I'm not sure when and how it happened. Is there a way to link them back up besides doing each tool individually? I noticed it because in the properties window for my tools, style location field is blank. Any ideas?

Not sure how that happened. Did you have them backed up in a content browser catalog? You could restore them from there. If not, I afraid you'll need to go through each one.

On the other hand, have you changed profiles lately? This might cause different tools to load.

I have changed profiles. I am trying to set up a company profile and have been switching around my profiles.

2005 relies on a number of files to make the palettes work as they do. One thing to check is that when you build the palettes, make sure and build them in their final location. If you build them when support pathing is set to the local drive & then change the pathing to the network location, it will not move the content. If you did this then you need to copy the content to the server. Where your paths pointed to on your local drive prior to setting the network location will determine where you need to look for the tool palette content.
Here is an example path of where the content installs by default: (C:\Documents and Settings\<<Username>>\Application Data\Autodesk\ADT 2005\enu\SupportToolPalette)

To be sure you get everything, you will want to look for the following stuff to transfer:
    • Inside the above mentioned ToolPalette folder there will be the AcTpCatalog.ATC file. You'll need this file.
    • There should also be a subfolder under the SupportToolPalette folder called Palettes. You'll need need the Palettes folder & all that's in it.
    • Under the same Support folder, you will find a folder called Profiles. You'll need the folder Profiles & all that's in it. It needs the Profile.aws that is located in the these folders (and the subfolders) to make the palettes go into the right groups.
See the attached document for an example of how the directory structure will look like on a local drive.

You'll want to be sure that all of the above items are located on the server & accessible to those trying to load the palettes. You'll also want the directory structure setup in a similar manner for the subfolders that are located under Support. As always, when altering acad files, make sure you back them up before copying/moving them & make sure that any acad programs that points to those locations is closed before altering files.
Hopefully this will take any of the mystery out of the files associated with making tool palettes work.

Steve, I'm not sure what's going on here. When I right click to do a "save target as", it wants to save it as a .gif file instead of a .pdf.

Well that's just strange. I don't know what caused that to happen, but it should work better now.

    Steve

Thank you very much for the information. I was able to get the tool pallets setup on our network and have starting to do some testing.

    Have a great day!!!
