    Default Can't change a level from "2D" to "3D"

I have a Revit model where a level won't change from a 2D type level to a 3D type level unless I get rid of the scope box associated with that level. How can I change the level to a 3D type without removing the scope box associated with the level?

When you assign a Scope Box to a Level's properties, the 3D extents are changed to match to the Scope Box extents. So if you want the Level extents to be independent of the Scope Box, then you have to not associate them. This doesn't mean deleting (depending on how you're using the term "removing") the Scope Box, but changing that value in the Level properties to None.

You can assign a Scope Box to a Section or Elevation view without assigning it to any Levels that cross that are within the view's extents.

When levels are associated with a scopebox the levels extents match the scopebox extents. This means that adjust the scopebox extents that contains the level its the same as adjusting the level extents in 3D.
